Worked input and result
Example: Surface area = 60 m²; Coverage per coat = 12 m²/L; Number of coats = 2; Allowance = 5 %. Result: Paint required = 10.5 L.
Understanding the result
Area is multiplied by coat count and divided by coverage in m²/L. Use the manufacturer’s coverage for your surface; subtract openings from the area first. Allowance is added separately.
Coverage depends on the paint, surface texture and number of coats. The allowance is approximate; consult the manufacturer for porous surfaces and minimum drying requirements.
