Ratio calculator

Simplify the ratio of two integers or decimals.

Both a decimal point and a comma work.

2 : 3

Simplified result

How it works

A:B → (A/gcd):(B/gcd)

Using the calculator

Enter: A · B. Calculation: A:B → (A/gcd):(B/gcd).

Worked input and result

Example: A = 24; B = 36. Result: Simplified result = 2 : 3.

Understanding the result

Both values are scaled to integers, then divided by their greatest common divisor. Up to 9 decimal places are supported; 0:0 is undefined.

A ratio compares two quantities; simplifying 24:36 to 2:3 preserves their relationship. The quantities should be expressed in comparable units before simplifying.
